A code indicating the current condition of an account.
Definition
Account Status is a two-character code that indicates the current condition of a credit account. The first character indicates the basic status (current, delinquent, closed, etc.), while the second character (Payment Rating) indicates the level of delinquency if applicable. Account Status is one of the most critical fields in Metro 2 reporting as it directly affects a consumer's credit score.

Usage Notes
- Must be updated monthly to reflect current account condition
- Some status codes require additional fields to be populated
- Closed accounts should continue reporting for 7 years from closure date
