Consistency checks
Past due is incompatible with a current or paid status. Charge-offs freeze an original charge-off amount for tracking recovery. Always anchor balances to the same as-of date used for the cycle.
Zero-balance on closure
When status indicates paid/closed, set current balance to 0 and ensure no lingering past-due.
