    Metro 2 Integration for TenantCloud

Integrate TenantCloud with Metro2 to report tenant rent payments to Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion. TenantCloud provides API access at api.tenantcloud.com using Personal Access Tokens (PAT) for authentication — tokens are generated in your TenantCloud Settings and shown only once. Metro2 pulls tenant contact records, lease terms, rent charges, and payment history, maps each field to the Metro 2 Base Segment, validates against CDIA formatting rules, and submits to all three credit bureaus. TenantCloud does not natively report rent payments to credit bureaus — this integration fills that gap for small landlords and independent property managers.

    How It Works

Metro2 authenticates to TenantCloud's API at api.tenantcloud.com using a Personal Access Token (PAT) in the Authorization header. Tenant, lease, charge, and payment data is pulled via REST endpoints, mapped to Metro 2 Base Segment fields, validated against CDIA rules, and submitted to Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion monthly.

    Benefits

    Personal Access Token Authentication

TenantCloud uses Personal Access Tokens (PAT) generated in Settings. Tokens are shown once at creation — Metro2 stores them securely and authenticates on every API call.

    Built for Small Landlords

TenantCloud is designed for independent landlords and small property managers. Metro2 adds credit reporting without requiring enterprise-grade infrastructure or complex setup.

Tenant Credit Building Without Native Support

TenantCloud does not natively report rent payments to credit bureaus. This integration fills that gap — report on-time payments to help tenants build credit and reduce turnover.

    Affordable Stack

Pair TenantCloud's low-cost property management with Metro2's credit reporting. No additional API fees from TenantCloud — the token is included with your account.

    CDIA-Compliant Validation

Every record pulled from TenantCloud is validated against CDIA Metro 2 formatting rules before submission to Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion.

    Data Fields That Sync

Metro2 maps these fields from TenantCloud to Metro 2 format automatically.

    • Tenant contact records (name, email, phone, address) via TenantCloud API
    • Lease terms including start date, end date, monthly rent amount, and lease status
    • Rent charges and recurring fee line items linked to leases
    • Payment history with date, amount, and payment method
    • Current balance and account status derived from payment records
    • Property and unit details including address and unit number
    • Tenant SSN — not stored in TenantCloud; collected separately via Metro2's encrypted form

Get Set Up in 5 Steps

    1

    Generate Personal Access Token

In TenantCloud, go to Settings and generate a Personal Access Token (PAT). Copy the token immediately — it is only displayed once and cannot be retrieved later.

    2

    Enter Token in Metro2

In Metro2, go to Integrations > Add > TenantCloud. Paste your Personal Access Token. Metro2 will authenticate against api.tenantcloud.com and verify the connection.

    3

    Select Properties and Tenants

Choose which properties and tenants to include in credit reporting. Configure grace periods and late payment thresholds.

    4

    Test with Sample Data

Run a test sync to generate a sample Metro 2 file. Review Account Status codes, Payment Ratings, and balance calculations against your TenantCloud records.

    5

    Enable Production Reporting

Confirm tenant consent is collected and enable automatic monthly submissions to the credit bureaus.

    Frequently Asked Questions

Is there a minimum number of units?

No. Metro2 works for landlords with one unit or hundreds. TenantCloud is designed for small portfolios and the integration works at any scale.

    Do tenants need to consent?

Yes. Tenant consent is required by the FCRA before reporting their rent payments to credit bureaus. Metro2 provides consent collection tools.

Does TenantCloud have a public API?

TenantCloud provides API access at api.tenantcloud.com with documentation at docs.api.tenantcloud.com. Authentication uses Personal Access Tokens (PAT) generated in your account Settings.

Does TenantCloud natively report to credit bureaus?

No. TenantCloud does not have a built-in feature for reporting rent payments to credit bureaus. This Metro2 integration fills that gap by pulling TenantCloud data and converting it to Metro 2 format for bureau submission.

What if I lose my Personal Access Token?

TenantCloud only displays the token once at creation. If you lose it, generate a new token in Settings and update it in Metro2. The old token will no longer work.

How is the Payment Rating calculated?

Metro2 calculates the Payment Rating (0-6) by comparing charge due dates against payment dates from TenantCloud's records. 0 = current, 1 = 30-59 days past due, 2 = 60-89 days, and so on. Grace periods you configure in Metro2 are applied before calculating delinquency.
